A recent study published in the British Journal of Nutrition has additionally found a correlation between insoluble fiber consumption and lowered blood pressure.1 The study looked at men and women between the ages of 40 to 59 and found that increasing insoluble fiber intake by 4.6 g per 1000 kcal, was associated with lower systolic blood pressure. The main dietary source of insoluble fiber was raw fruits; followed by refined grains, then vegetables. Insoluble fiber is found in seeds and skins of fruits.
